KATHMANDU, Aug 30: The Constitutional Committee (CC) of the CA held its first meeting in three months on Sunday after the election Nilamber Acharya as its head. The meeting dwelt on issues related to the preparation of the draft of new constitution including the formulation of its basic principles.

"We reviewed the works done so far and discussed how to move forward to finalize the draft of new constitution within the stipulated time," said Acharya.

The meeting also discussed on amending the CA calendar for the sixth time as the CA committees are almost certain to miss their deadline to finalize their drafts by September 6. The CC is also yet to accomplish its own tasks of finalizing preamble of the constitution and draft on several other issues that do not fall in the jurisdiction of the thematic committees.

Acharya said the meeting agreed in principle to form constitution drafting sub-committee and a separate political coordination sub-committee to help resolve the differences among political parties on various issues.
