The CC meet also analyzed the progress made by the subcommittee so far, on resolving the remaining disputes in the new constitution.
The meeting discussed about resolving the remaining contentious issues but were unable to make a decision, informed committee member and Sadbhavana Party leader Laxman Lal Karna.
The subcommittee headed by UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, formed to settle contentious issues in the new constitution has remained idle from some time. It has been learnt that Dahal has also recommended dissolving the subcommittee, since the parties want to resolve major contentious issues at the political level.
The meeting also discussed state restructuring and other contentious issues in the new constitution to bring the peace and constitution drafting processes to its logical end.
Although the parties have earlier agreed on forming an experts panel within CA as an alternative to the proposed state restructuring commission, the decision has not been implemented as yet, hence, the meeting was also expected to decide on the implementation for the formation of an experts panel.
The decision of resolving major contentious issues at the political level was taken earlier as Nepali Congress (NC) officially decided to expedite the constitution drafting process only after the government makes tangible progress in the peace process. Another opposition party CPN-UML has backed NC in its stance.
