CAN President Binay Raj Pandey revealed the plan of expanding the regional teams at an interaction organized by the newly-formed Electronic Media Sports Journalists Network.
CAN is planning to split Region No 2 Birgunj into two regions following a growing craze of the game in Janakpur and Dhanusha which lie in the same region. Similarly, Pokhara which falls under Region No 4 Bhairahawa, is being made a new region.
Pandey said that CAN was undergoing internal preparations for the expansion of regions and such expansion would be helpful for the development and promotion of players. He added that CAN was also thinking of sending Nepali players to IPL teams.
Pandey hinted that players´ closed-camp training for the Guangzhou Asiad will be delayed by some more days. "We are unable to conduct training due to the rains." Both men´s and women´s cricket teams are participating in the Asiad.
