Cabinet may pass 7 ordinances today

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The cabinet meeting on Thursday could not take decision on seven various ordinances concerning constitutional appointments, truth and reconciliation commission, health and education, among other issues.



"Today´s (Thursday) meeting could not take any decision regarding the ordinances as it needs more homework," Health and Population Minister Rajendra Mahato told Republica. [break]



A cabinet meeting has been called for Friday. According to Mahato, the cabinet meeting on Friday is likely to pass the ordinances. "We will continue initiatives to pass ordinance on inclusion also," he added.



Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting decided to extend the tenure of the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist Combatants by three months.



According to Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma, the meeting also decided to accept the resignation submitted by Gyan Chandra Acharya, the permanent representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York, effective from September 1, 2012.



Likewise the meeting decided to promote Hari Prasad Rijal, a gazetted second class officer at the Urban Development Ministry, to gazetted first class at the sanitary sub-division of the Engineering service, civil division, effective from August 9. The meeting also decided to give him retirement effective from September 9.
