KATHMANDU, Sept 19: A meeting four major political parties—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN UML and United Democratic Madhesi Force—concluded that chances of the Constituent Assembly (CA) revival and promulgation of new constitution by resolving disputed issues of the constitution drafting process through it have ended.
Speaking with reporters after attending the meeting UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said the parties should now opt for fresh election. [break]
“We will now head for fresh election by forming a national consensus government. Only the national consensus government can conduct fresh election,” Khanal said.
Similarly, NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula and UCPN (Maoist) leader Agni Sapkota reiterated that CA revival is not possible now.
The meeting was attended by heads and senior leaders of four major parties including the prime minister at Special Committee Secretariat in New Baneshwor.
