BUSINESS BRIEFS: Thai entrepreneurs eager to invest in tourism

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Thai investors have expressed interest to invest in Nepal´s hydropower and tourism sector. In a meeting with hoteliers on Friday, Krishna Sivakrskul, President of Thai-Nepal Chamber of Commerce, said investors in Thailand were interested to invest in Nepal´s tourism and hydropower sector provided that there is investment friendly environment in the country, a statement issued by Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) said.



Speaking on the occasion, HAN President Shyam Sundar Lal Kaskhpati said it was a good sign for Nepal´s economy that foreign investors are interested to put their money here. [break]



"Despite having great potential, we are lacking investment,” he said, urging the government to create investment friendly environment in the country. Ramesh Hamal, former president of Non-Resident Nepali Association, Thailand, appreciated HAN´s role in bringing foreign investment in the country. "As foreigners are keen to invest in Nepal, HAN can play a key role in bringing such investment,” added Hamal.


NLIC opens branch in Parsa

KATHMANDU: In a bid to better serve its clients and expand the market, National Life Insurance Company (NLIC) has opened a new branch in Parsa of Chitwan. President of Khaireni Chamber of Commerce and Industry Keshav Pathak inaugurated the branch amid a function on Friday. According to a press release issued by the company, Pathak urged more insurance companies to reach the doorsteps of general people as not many Nepalis are aware of importance of insurance.



He also asked the insurance companies to enhance their capacity and introduce more customer-friendly products, serving them in more efficient manner. On the occasion, the company also awarded best performing insurance agents of its Narayanghat branch.



Bajaj exchange offer from Sunday

KATHMANDU: HH Bajaj is launching Bajaj Exchange offer from Sunday. Issuing a press statement, the company said the exchange program will be launched in all Baja dealerships outside the capital upon completion of the program in the capital. Under this program, anyone can bring in their old bikes and exchange it with a brand new Bajaj bike and also get the best value for their bikes. The company will also be providing finance facility at very low interest rate. According to the statement, the company is providing attractive gifts to those customers buying Bajaj bike during the offer period.



"Our main objective behind launching the exchange offer is to make the purchase of new Bajaj bikes easy and accessible for all. We have successfully conducted many such exchange events in the recent past and we are really sure that it will be a huge success this year as well," Shekhar Golchha, executive director of HH Bajaj, said in the statement.



Dell Concept Store in Putalisadak

KATHMANDU: Generation Next Communications -- the authorized distributor for Dell in Nepal -- has opened its new Dell Concept Store at Glass House, Putalisadak. According to a press statement, the store has on display all range of Dell products such as notebooks, printers, projectors and monitors among others. The store also offers exciting gifts and amazing opening prices for the customers, said the statement. Dell delegates from Malaysia or Singapore will officially open the store later this month, the statement added.


Shinarey Tractors now in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Force Construction and Associates -- a subsidiary of Shanker Group -- has introduced Shinarey tractors in the Nepali market. According to a press statement issued on Friday, Shinarey tractors can be used to till land that is wet, dry or even hard with the help of additional blades. "With the entry of the new innovative equipment which has been successfully used throughout the world, the work of Nepali farmers will now be much easier and more productive. It is easy to transport and takes less effort to use," said the statement.



The tractor, which is available in petrol and diesel variants, is considered one of the easiest mediums to plough the land as it helps save time and money, added the statement.


H&B Bank opens branch in Parbat

KATHMANDU: H&B Development Bank has opened its 28th branch office in Patichaur of Parbat district. The branch was inaugurated by Shravan Kumar Agarwal, chairman of the bank, on Friday, a bank statement says. Prior to this, the bank had established six branch offices inside Kathmandu valley and 21 outside the valley. The bank is planning to open one more branch office in Kathmandu valley and two more outside the valley, the statement says. The bank collected Rs 7.20 billion deposits and extended Rs 5.71 billion in loans last fiscal year.
