Mega opens new branchless banking outlets
KATHMANDU: Mega Bank has launched branchless banking services in Divarna, Khanadaha and Dharapani of Aargakhanchi district. The services, supported with state-of-the-art technology, were launched to provide banking services to people living in those rural areas, says a bank statement. With the addition of these outlets, the total number of branchless banking centers operated by the bank has reached 35. Mega Bank last month introduced branchless banking services in Sitapur of Banke district, Fulbari, Masuriya and Chaumala of Kailali district, Rampur of Dang district, Panamara and Chatara of Sunsari district, Tankisinawari of Morang district, Sabaila of Dhanusha district, Sharadanagar and Parsa of Chitwan district, and Krishanapur of Kanchanpur district.

NBTI, IFC discuss SME financing
KATHMANDU: National Banking Training Institute (NBTI) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, have jointly organized a round table discussion on small and medium enterprise (SME) financing. The discussion focused on how banks and financial institutions can tap huge market in SME financing in Nepal, says a statement issued by NBTI. Presentations and discussions were led by Suman Joshi, CEO of Laxmi Bank, Matthew Gamser, head of the SME Finance Forum of the IFC and Sanjib Subba, CEO of NBTI. Regulators, CEOs and head of SME departments of banks, and representatives from the SME sector also took part in the discussions. “SME Banking in Nepal has been more talk than action so far,” the statement quoted Laxmi Bank CEO Joshi as saying at the event.
