BUSINESS BRIEFS: Mahabir Pun's cafe in Thamel

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: Famed entrepreneur and Magsaysay award winner Mahabir Pun has opened Nepal Connection cafe, in the Thamel tourist district. The not-for-profit restaurant will fund Pun´s ongoing rural community projects, as well as act as a "meeting point" for locals and travelers.



"It is not only a place to eat. It´s a place to meet and brainstorm," Pun told Republica. Pun collected Rs 2 million via Facebook for starting the cafe.[break]



Smart Cell launches special scheme



KATHMANDU: Smart Cell has launched a scheme under which its customers can win a smartphone and other prizes every month. Issuing a statement Friday, Smart Cell CEO Subash Bajracharya said the scheme was valid for anyone recharging their account with Rs 25 and above. The scheme is valid for users in Rautahat district only, according to the statement. Smart Cell is providing service in 41 districts. It also provides tele-medicine facility.
