CHITWAN, Sept 15: Bottlers Nepal Tarai resumed operations on Tuesday after two weeks of shutdown.
The Chitwan-based company had closed operations after the workers obstructed production following the death of one of its staff. The transportation workers of the factory had crippled its operations, arguing that the management paid no heed to their demands that they placed in the wake of the death of the worker. [break]
The workers allowed resumption of the operations after the management agreed to fulfill all major demands. The workers had mainly demanded the management to pay Rs 215,000 to the family of deceased worker Bakaya Chaudhary and give a job to his son.
The management has agreed to fulfill these demands and also conceded to pledge insurance coverage for all the workers and also settle all the dues of the staffs.
The workers involved in the distribution of the company´s products had also padlocked the main gate of the factory, citing that the management had not paid salary to some 18 workers employed on the transportation department for seven months.
The company was suffering a daily loss of Rs 20 million due to the closure.
