According to a press release issued by the NHRC, they have agreed to implement the commission´s recommendations with high priority. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Madhav Ghimire, Attorney General Bharat Bahadur Karki and members of NHRC.
At the meeting, Chief Secretary Ghimire expressed his commitment that the government will implement commission´s recommendation with high priority. He informed the NHRC members about government´s fresh decision to allocate Rs 70 million to provide compensation to the victims of human rights violations.
The NHRC has recommended to the government for punishment and other necessary actions against 303 people found guilty of violating human rights. Most of the recommendations have largely gone unheeded. NHRC members Ramnagina Singh, Gauri Pradhan, Lila Pathak, KB Rokaya and OPMCM Secretary Trilochan Uprety were also present at the meeting.
