Bhadari for president's active role

BIRGUNJ, Dec. 18: Chairperson of National Madhes Socialist Party Sharat Singh Bhandari has said that the President should come up with active role for safeguarding the republic achieved through the historical People´s Movement.



The President should take active role in a positive manner if the parties failed to forge consensus within the deadline extended by the President for the formation of consensus government, Bhandari said at a press conference organized here on Monday by Madhesi Journalists´ Society Nepal, Parsa.



´If such situation emerges, the parties have no alternative but to stand by the President´s move´, he further said.



Leader Bhandari blamed the major political parties of doing the politics of prohibition and thereby putting the country on hostage.



Republic is the aspiration of mass Nepali people and President is a symbol of republic so that the President should come up with active role to justify the dignity and rationale of the post, he asserted.



The election government is the alternative to the incumbent government, he said, stressing the need to form a new government under the leadership of fringe parties to assure to hold the upcoming election in a a free and fair manner.



He said his party was committed to institutionalize achievements yielded by the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) in favour of federalism with identity, restructure the state based on federal setups and consolidate fundamental values of democracy.
