“We may have to launch a mass movement like the one we waged last May. Be prepared for that,” a Maoist cadre quoted Dahal as saying during the closed-door cadres´ training program in Pokhara on Wednesday.[break]
According to him, Dahal stated that the party may exert pressure from three fronts --streets, parliament and government -- to achieve the goal of the “people´s constitution”.
It may be recalled that the official line of the party is to take the “revolution” forward through the fronts of the streets, parliament and the government.
The party has already decided to make preparations for a “people´s revolt” to seize state power.
Dahal told the cadres that the party would launch a “mass movement” if the party sees no possibility of drafting the new constitution.
According to the participants in the training, the Maoist chairman stated that the party would fight to safeguard “national independence.” He directed the party cadres to visit every nook and cranny and sensitize people to rise up to save the peace process and national independence.
Talking to reporters, Dahal stated that only those against the peace process are opposing the current government. He informed that the government would get full shape on Thursday. “We formed that government through our right to self-determination,” he argued.
Top party leaders including Dahal, senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya, Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai and General Secretary Ram Bahdur Thapa were in Pokhara for the training program. Around 420 party cadres attended the training program.
