The DAO cautioned the organizations, individuals and groups in the district against carrying out inhumane activities like tying up people and marching them around the village in the name of correction.

A woman in Butwal district had committed suicide some 15 days back as she could not bear the mental trauma from the torture allegedly inflicted by members of a local woman’s rights group in the name of correcting the woman.

The local women’s rights group had said the woman committed suicide while the local media said she killed self due to the torture by the members of the group.

It is said that the members of the women’s group had tied the woman and tortured her to rid of her alcoholism.
