Assaulted Alam's health deteriorating

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The health condition of assaulted Mohammad Alam, who is currently undergoing treatment at Maharajgunj-based TU Teaching Hospital, is deteriorating.



According to Dr Subas Acharya, blood had congealed on the right side of the patient’s head. The brain has been slightly swollen due to this reason. The blood clot has been removed from his brain through surgery. [break]



His respiratory system is still functioning. However the chance of regaining senses is very low. He further said that the internal nerves might crash at any time.

He has low pulse counts which stand at 2 percent while normal pulse counts should be10 percent, said a doctor attending Alam.



His is in coma. A doze of medicine has been increased in order to bring his consciousness back, he added.



He is kept at Intensive Care Unit No. 2.



A patient should regain senses within 72 hours after falling unconscious. In case of Alam, it has been 24 hours since he fell unconscious, according to the hospital.
