Army integration begins tomorrow

KATHMANDU, Sept. 5: The long time stalled integration of the ex-Maoist combatants into Nepal Army is resuming Thursday. The Army Integration Special Committee´s meeting on August 27 had decided to resume the integration from tomorrow.



A total of 3,123 ex-fighters deemed qualified in the recent selection process are joining the integration. [break]It would begin from the main camps of Jhapa, Sindhuli, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rolpa, Surkhet and Dhangadhi.



AISC Coordinator Balananda Sharma said as all disputes on integration has been settled, the teams comprising members of Nepal Army, and the AISC would reach all cantonments early Thursday.



Now, date of birth of the ex-fighters would be based on their citizenship certificates and the date of service entry would be the date they entered 18 years, he said, adding that the process of formation of general directorate would be determined on the number finalized for integration.



Similarly, the final number would be regarded the 35 percent of the total in the directorate while others would be brought from other security bodies.



Once the final integration begins, ex-fighters would be provided a leave up to 45 days with allowance as per their demand.



The integration would complete within a month as per the plan Nepal Army devised.
