Army Club wins men's gold in TT

KATHMANDU, July 22: Tribhuvan Army Club clinched gold in the men's team event in the National Open Table Tennis Tournament on Wednesday. Army beat Nepal Police Club 3-2 in the final played at the Lainchaur Table Tennis Training Centre.



APF Club and Lalitpur jointly finished third. Likewise, Adarsha Vidya Mandir (AVM) came first in boys' team events and Proxima School came second. Swarnim and Galaxy Public jointly finished third.

In girls' team events, AVM claimed gold and Kantipur School bagged silver, while Whitefield and Galaxy won bronze medals. Meanwhile, Diksha Tamang and Lashtha Maharjan of AVM entered the final of girl's singles.


Diksha recorded 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 win over Sukriti Shrestha of Rupandehi and Lashtha beat Sikka Suwal of AVM 11-7, 11-9, 8-11, 11-5 in the semifinals. Shyantu Shrestha of Nobel Academy beat Ashish Sharma of AVM 11-6, 11-9, 12-10 in boys' singles semifinal.
