KATHMANDU, March 25: Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shah on Wednesday said the appointment of judges in the vacant posts of the courts will start from Thursday.

Talking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from the 10-day India visit, Shah said the process of appointing judges at the Supreme Court, the Appellate Courts and the District Courts will begin from tomorrow.

"Even if we do not receive the nomination for the vacant post allocated for the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), the process will move ahead," said Shah, adding the Judicial Council will take a concrete decision on this matter by Friday.

Shah expressed his belief that he will receive the nomination from the NBA once the JC meeting takes place.

Three permanent and few limited term positions at the Supreme Court, two dozen positions in the Appellate Courts and some few posts of judges in the District Courts are lying vacant since long.

Chief Justice Shah has returned home today after attending the International Conference on Global Environmental Issues held in New Delhi.

During the 10-day visit, Shah paid a courtesy call to his counterpart H.L Dattu, Chief Justice of India, Minister of Law and Justice of India Sadananda Gowda, among others.
