During a function organized at ANFA Complex, Satdobato to bid farewell to Nepali national team for Bangabandhu Gold Cup, ANFA Chief Executive Officer Indra Man Tuladhar said that coach Aussems has not yet been sacked; however his fate will be decided after holding a meeting with him upon his return."Aussems has informed that he will be in Nepal by January 7 or 8 so we will decide about his fate only after his arrival," said Tuladhar.
Aussems' six-month contract will end in February.
However, Tuladhar informed that Aussems will not be in the coach's list for the Bangabandhu Gold Cup slated for January 8-20 in Bangladesh as he failed to return to Nepal by January 5, the pre-scheduled date for his return.
Tuladhar also clarified that Aussems has not corresponded formally with ANFA whether he is unwilling to renew his contract although he had mentioned his disagreements with ANFA in a Twitter post.
"Aussems did not return on time citing family reasons," Tuladhar added.
He further informed that the name list provided by Bal Gopal Maharjan, the head coach of the team, and Upendra Man Singh, the goalkeeping coach, was sent for the event. Birat Jung Shahi is the manager of the team that left for Bangladesh to take part in the competition.
Tuladhar also said Aussems' name could be included as head coach for the 12th South Asian Games slated for February by requesting National Sports Council and Nepal Olympic Committee, if Aussems agrees to continue as head coach.
Meanwhile, National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista said that coaches of Nepali football team should be contracted based on their commitments for the development of the game.
"Coaches should have the vision and commitment to produce results and NSC is ready to support such coaches," said Bista.
Nepali team off for Bangladesh
A 30-member football team, including 23 players on Thursday left for Bangladesh to take part in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup with the aim of clinching the title and preparation for the 12th South Asian Games as well.
Nepal, which is in Group A along with Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, will take on Malaysia on January 9 in its opener in Sylhet and play second match against Sri Lanka on January 12 and Bangladesh on January 14 in Dhaka.
During the farewell function, ANFA Acting President Narendra Shrestha said that the team should visit Bangladesh to claim the title of the Gold Cup rather than just for SAG preparation.
"The team has been in trainings for a long time, so the aim of the team should be to win the title not mere preparations for SAG," said Shrestha.
Meanwhile, coach Bal Gopal Maharjan said that Nepal has chances of making it into second round comfortably.
"We recently played a friendly against Bangladesh and played against Sri Lanka during SAFF Championship so we will build on those experiences and could beat both the teams to secure knockout stage, however we don't know much about Malaysia. At the same time we have good team for the competition," he said.
