Goalkeeper Amrit Chaudhary, defenders Palsang Lama and Ajit Bhandari as well as striker Asim Jung Karki could not make to the final squad. Sulav Maskey, who was included as reserve player in the second round of training, has been included in the final list.[break]
Earlier ANFA had selected 27 players for the closed camp.
Bikash Kuthu, Dinesh Thapa Magar and Bishal Shrestha will take charge of the goal post while Sabindra Shrestha, Ravi Thapa, Bikash Singh Chhetri, Robin Shrestha, Deepak Bhusal and Rohit Chand are the defenders in the Nepali squad.
Bishal Rai, Shiva Shrestha, Roshan Lamichhane, Pravin Karki, Ganesh Khadka, Rupesh KC, Anil Ojha, Amir Shrestha, Sulav Maskey and Jagjit Shrestha are midfielders while Sushil KC, Bharat Khawas, Jangbu Sherpa and Sujal Shrestha are the strikers.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has rescheduled the Group D Qualifiers after ANFA requested it to postpone the matches due to unfavourable political situation in the country. Earlier the qualifying tournament was scheduled for June 2 to 10. Nepal is placed in Group D along with Uzbekistan, Jordan and Bangladesh.
Coach Krishna Thapa claimed the team to be a balanced and physically fit team. "Our strength is the forward line and midfield," said Thapa. “Khawas and Shrestha are good at scoring while Shiva Shrestha, Anil Ojha, Jagjit Shrestha and Rupesh KC are good in midfield," he added.
Thapa further added that Nepali midfielders have the capacity of attacking and scoring in any time. "This quality will help the team to win matches. Football is about scoring and my boys are capable of scoring," said Thapa.
