Ambulance drivers stage protests in Jhapa

DAMAK, May 22: Drivers of ambulances have staged protests in Damak of Jhapa district demanding their security. As high as 36 protesting drivers submitted a memorandum to the Area Police Office, Damak, on Tuesday morning demanding their security.



The ambulance drivers staged the protest after an ambulance (Me 1 Cha 834) was vandalized on Monday evening by the banda enforces on its way to Jhapa-based Lifeline Hospital from B P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.



Ambulance driver Laxmi Mishra who sustained injuries in the attack is undergoing treatment at B P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. Mishra has sustained deep head injuries and the ambulance had overturned after being uncontrolled when the driver lost his consciousness.



Similarly, another ambulance driver Dilip Shrestha was manhandled by the banda enforces at Dharampur of Jhapa this morning while taking the patients to the nearby hospital from Birtamod.
