Agitating teachers holding talks with govt

KATHMANDU, Feb 29: Representatives of agitating teachers´ bodies are holding talks with the government on Wednesday on addressing their demand.



The talks is taking place a day after they met the prime minister to press for meeting their demands. Various teachers organizations including Nepal Educational Republican Forum and Nepal Teachers Union have been launching protest program putting forth a list of demands.



Their demands includes giving  permanent status to temporary teachers through internal selection procedure, provision of salary to teachers working in private schools on par with their government school counterparts and reinstatement of displaced teachers to their posts, among other things.



The teachers´ organizations, which have been protesting for over a month now, have said they would intensify their stir if their demands are not met.
