ADB to help develop Biratnagar

BIRATNAGAR, Nov 13: Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to invest some Rs 3.25 billion for overall development of Biratnagar.



The amount to be invested in five different stages consists of 85 percent donation and 15 percent loan.



ADB would focus its investment mainly in drainage, the topmost problem of the city, maintenances of internal roads, construction of shopping complex including others after preparing master plans.



Discussion over the issue with the political parties, civil society members, and authority concerned was in the final stage.



Speaking at a program organized in Biratnagar, civil society members and authority concerned including locals urged to increase the income of the sub-metropolis and for proper utilization of the investments.



Executive officer of Biratnagar Sub-metropolis Gopal Prasad Regmi said preparations are on to reach a conclusion after holding a meeting at the Ministry for Physical Planning and Works scheduled on Nov. 20.



Consultant Dr Radhe Sharan Pradhan said ADB has proposed to complete the construction of all infrastructures within five years.
