According to SSP Janaki Raj Bhattarai, they were arrested from 16 districts including the troubled Siraha, Saptari, Morang and hill districts in the region. Police also seized several arms from them.
Police believe that the tendency among youths possessing arms has gone up in recent months as there is competition among various armed groups operating in the region to form militant youth organizations.
According to the APF, the armed groups had kidnapped 35 persons in 16 districts during the same period. Police had been able to safely rescue 29 of them.
