30 women footballers in second phase

KATHMANDU, Aug 13: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Monday short listed 30 players in its second phase of selection for the upcoming Second SAFF Women´s Football Championship scheduled to start from September 7 to 17 in Sri Lanka.



ANFA had called 46 players in the first phase on the basis of their performance during First Ncell Women´s Football Championship. Coaches Kishor KC and Kumar Katwal finalized the list on the basis of their performance during the training. [break]



Armed Police Force (APF) dominated the list with 12 players named from the departmental team. Jamuna Gurung, Anu Lama, Pramila Rai, Sajana Rana, Laxmi Poudel, Tulsa Singh, Usha Bhandari, Bhagwati Thapa, Manmaya Magar, Chandra Devi Dahal, Ranjana Darji and Mira Maharjan are the players from APF.



The team includes eight players from Nepal Police Club, namely, Chandra Bhandari, Niru Thapa, Yasodha Lama, Rupa Magar, Rina Gubhaju, Dhim Kumari Gurung, Menuka Giri and Namita Dali.



Krishna Khatri, Deepa Adhikari, Lila Lamgadhe and Anchali Waiwa from Nepal Army Club have also made it to the list. Meanwhile, six players from other districts have been included in the list. Nisha Bohara and Amrita Jaisi from Kailali, Laxmi Nepal (Banke), Sarmila Gole (Bara), Ranjita Gurung (Taplejung) and Renuka Nagarkoti (Rautahat) are the players from district teams.



Along with Nepal, defending champion India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan are competing in the championship.
