DHADING, Aug 13: A passenger bus ((Na 3 Kha 1989) heading to Kathmandu from Bardibas met with an accident at Ghatbesi in Pida -2 here in the district at around 5 am on Monday, injuring at least six people on board.
Those injured are Phul Kumari Lama, 65, of Janakpur, Shanti Basnet, 65, of Dhanusha, Parmeshwor Mahato, 50, of Mahottari, Netra Chauhan, 15, of Sindhuli, Laxmi Rokka, 55, of Sindhuli and Arjunb Mahato, 55, of Dhanusha. [break]
Among them, Laxmi is critical condition, police said. The injured have been taken to Kathmandu after primary health treatment at a local hospital. Earlier, police with help of locals had rescued them from the incident site.
Police believe speeding to be the cause of the accident. The bus driver has been detained following the incident and has been kept at the area police office, Gajuri.
Meanwhile, at least nine persons have been injured in another bus accident in Gajuri-2, in the district.
Among the injured, three are said to be in critical condition. They have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment, informed area police accident, Gajuri. The rest of the injured are undergoing treatment at a Gajuri-based hospital.
The over speeding bus (Lu 1 Kha 5980) en-route to Butwal from Dhading hit a Kathmandu-bound motorcycle (Ba 32 Pa 3616) and turned turtle on the road.
