148 die in valley road accident yearly

KATHMANDU, Sept. 5: A total of 148 persons died in 8,946 accidents occurred in the Kathmandu Valley in the fiscal year 2011/12.



Of them, 102 were men, 32 women, and 14 children, according to a report provided by the Metropolitan Police Division.



Meanwhile, the Division has collected Rs. 113.19 million revenue with the fine imposed on 26,247 vehicle owners last year.



The revenue collection upped as the police launched campaign against drink-drive since Mangsir 17, 2068BS and charged Rs. 1,000 per head for driving with drink, informed the Division.
