The deceased has been identified as Ali Mohammad, 30, of Charpane VDC-1, Jhapa. Mohammad died while being rushed to a local hospital for treatment, said Shyam Subedi, in-charge of Area Police Office, Bhardaha. [break]
According to the police, the bus (Na 2 Kha 6997) heading for Birgunj from Kakarbhitta crashed into the Koshi Barrage and turned turtle because of thick fog in the area.
Police said Mohammad´s body has been sent to Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the injured passengers are undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan and the Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar.
The injured include Mohammad Nijamuddin, 41, of Anarmani-6, Jhapa; Tarina Khatun,19; Sariul Khatun, 42; Man Bahadur Dahal, 50, of Kavre-7, Dolakha; Umesh Tamang, 23, of Swarnapur-6, Parsa and Shishir Dahal, 25, of Urlabari-4, Morang.
